But after years of trial and error and some pretty epic fashion fails around the campfire, I’ve cracked the code on staying warm, comfortable and Instagram-ready in the wilderness.
You do not have to choose between style and survival anymore. Here are my best tips and formula for cute fall camping outfits.

What Not to Pack
While packing for your fall camping adventure might seem like a game of “throw everything in and hope for the best”, there’s definitely some stuff you’ll want to leave at home to avoid looking like you’re headed to a fashion disaster instead of the great outdoors!
- White jeans – they’ll show every speck of dirt
- Stilettos – unless you enjoy twisted ankles
- Delicate silk blouses – campfire sparks aren’t forgiving
Fall Weather considerations
When you’re gearing up for a fall camping adventure, you gotta brace yourself for some wild weather. You know the transitional weather during autumn can swing from a pleasant 20°C (70°F) during the day to a nippy 4°C (40°F) or even colder at night, sometimes dipping to freezing!
You might find yourself basking in sunshine one moment and then, bam, a gusty wind hits and you’re reaching for your hoodie. It’s like Mother Nature can’t make up her mind!
And don’t forget about those surprise rain showers that can crash your campfire party. So, what should you pack? Think layers, layers and more layers! A good base layer, a cozy fleece or sweater and a waterproof jacket can save the day.
Oh, and don’t forget a warm hat and gloves because depending on where you are going, they might be essential items too. With the right gear, you’ll be ready to tackle whatever fall throws your way, whether it’s a sunbaked afternoon or a chilly evening under the stars.
