Weather Expectations for Istanbul in Summer
Istanbul’s summer is a real scorcher, kicking off in late May and hitting its zenith in July and August. You can expect highs around 86 to 95°F (30 to 35°C) and sometimes even 100°F (38°C) on those particularly fiery days. The humidity is like a warm, wet hug at about 70%, making it feel even hotter.
Thankfully, the nights cool down a bit to 68 to 72°F (20 to 22°C), so you might want a light jacket for those evening strolls along the Bosphorus. Oh, and don’t forget those surprise rain showers—about eight days a month where the sky might suddenly open up, but they’re usually quick and harmless, like that friend who shows up uninvited but leaves after an hour.
When it comes to packing, think comfy and breathable. Lightweight clothes are your best friend, but it’s also smart to toss in a hat, some sunscreen, and a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated. So whether you’re sipping Turkish tea or exploring ancient sites, you’ll be ready for whatever the summer throws your way.
