What to Pack for Lisbon: 12 Lisbon July Outfits for Hot Days

I’m so excited to share my tips for packing for Lisbon. I’ve visited this gorgeous capital of Portugal many times in the summer. It’s just a short ride from Porto nd I love going down to visit friends.

The steep hills and the July heat are no joke. You really have to be prepared in order to stay comfy and hydrated.

If you’re wondering what to wear to stay comfortable while looking cute in your vacation photos, I’ve got you covered with outfit ideas that’ll work for every situation. Let’s check them out!

Lisbon July Outfits Cheat Code

  • Pack light, breathable fabrics like cotton and linen to stay comfortable in July’s 85-90°F daytime temperatures.
  • Include day-to-night pieces as temperatures drop to 65°F in evenings.
  • Choose flat sandals, espadrilles or comfortable sneakers for walking around.
  • Bring sun protection essentials including sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat. You will get 11+ hours of daily sunshine.
  • Pack mix-and-match items to create multiple outfit combinations.

Weather in Lisbon in July

When you’re heading to Lisbon in July, brace yourself for some serious heat! Daily temps usually soar to around 85°F (29°C) and can even spike into the 90s. It’s like Mother Nature cranked up the thermostat!

The air can feel a bit sticky too, especially during the hottest part of the day, which is usually between noon and 4pm… definitely a good time to seek out some shade or a cold drink.

But don’t worry, as the sun dips down, the evening turns into a agreeable 65°F (18°C), perfect for further adventures or enjoying a late dinner.

Rain? What’s that? You can expect barely any of it, so leave that umbrella at home! With around 11 hours of sunshine each day, don’t forget to slather on that sunscreen (and reapply, reapply, reapply) or you might end up looking like a lobster!

Now, for packing, it’s all about light and breezy clothing. Think comfy shorts, airy dresses and cute sandals/sneakers that make your feet sing! A sunhat would be a smart addition too if tghat is your thing!

What Not to Pack

Packing smart means also knowing what to leave behind!

Here’s what you definitely don’t need taking up precious suitcase space:

  1. Heavy jackets: Even though evenings cool down, a light cardigan or denim jacket is all you’ll need.
  2. High heels: Those steep cobblestone streets will destroy both your shoes and your ankles.
  3. Too many “just in case” outfits: Lisbon has plenty of shops if you need something and your back will thank you for the lighter luggage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Designer Brands Necessary for Lisbon’s Fashion Scene?

No, designer brands aren’t necessary for Lisbon’s fashion scene. I’d recommend focusing on comfortable, stylish pieces that reflect your personal style rather than expensive labels when visiting.

How Should I Dress for Lisbon’s Famous Fado Performances?

I’d wear smart-casual attire. A nice dress or blouse with pants, comfortable shoes and a light wrap works perfectly.

Can I Wear Heels in Lisbon?

I wouldn’t recommend heels in Lisbon, it’s full of cobblestone streets. They’re uneven and slippery, making walking difficult and potentially dangerous. Opt for stylish flats or low wedges instead for comfort.
